During this 6-day training you will put the knowledge and experience of the teaching slope into practice. Most internships take in the French or Austrian Alps. We also travel to Greece, Spain, Slovenia, Italy. The first day is usually spent on getting acquainted with the material and the environment and a repetition of the principles learned on the teaching slope. And then… It’s time for the first high flights!

Under the guidance of your instructors, you will take to the skies. You’re taking off like you’ve done dozens of times on the training slope. Throughout your flight, you will be guided over the radio, right up to and including the landing. The feeling after that first flight is indescribable!

As you progress you will make longer flights, and fly more and more autonomously. Your 2 instructors follow you constantly and adjust when needed. The internship also includes theory lessons on meteorology, aviation regulation and aerodynamics.

At the end of a first high flight training you will have learned to take off, do exercises to control your wing and land. You will have performed some high flights; you will have learned how to fly and adjust to various conditions and you have the basic theory lessons behind you. A busy week!

The stay is usually in a chalet or we camp. The costs are shared. Transport is agreed at the information meeting; usually there is a cost-sharing drive.

An info meeting is held in the week before for each training, where all practical details are reviewed. It is always a group of at least 6 and a maximum of 10 people with 2 instructors. If the weather is so bad that it is not possible to fly for more than 3 days, alternatives or a partial refund of your internship fee will be chosen.

Where?

The location of the training will depend on each individual's training week. They can take place in the most beautiful places in France, Spain, Italy, Austria and even Greece. The training weeks outside the school holidays are flexible, which means that we only decide where to go 3 days before the training. This allows us to always go to the region with the best meteorological conditions. 

Registration requirements

This is not a starter training. To be allowed to participate in this training, you must first have followed the training slope and have been declared ready for take-off by an instructor. On average, this is 4 training slope days, but that depends on your learning curve. For participants from another school, we usually expect you to first follow a training slope day with us, to make sure that the commands are the same and that you are ready to start. Insurances

Paragliding Insurance

Mandatory. Everyone participating in any Airsport training activity must be insured through the paragliding insurance of the Belgian Free Flight Federation (BVVF). This insurance costs €30 per year (valid for the calendar year) and we can arrange it for you if you do not already have it from the training on the practice slope. Please note: insurance from a foreign free-flight federation is not sufficient to participate in Airsport training activities.

Travel Assistance Insurance

Highly Recommended. This insurance covers you in case you need medical assistance and/or repatriation. Medical assistance is not included in the BVVF paragliding insurance. A travel assistance insurance with Europ-Assistance starts at €18.

Cancellation Insurance

Highly Recommended. This insurance reimburses your registration fee if you have to cancel due to medical or other serious reasons. The best option can be found with Europ-Assistance and it starts at €15.
